Luxury casino hotel in United States
Walking beneath the towering Roman columns and past the iconic fountains of Caesars Palace, you feel the weight of Vegas history. During my week-long stay, I discovered how this legendary resort maintains its position as a Strip icon while continuously evolving to meet modern luxury expectations.
The massive Augustus Tower lobby, with its soaring ceilings and classical statuary, sets an immediate tone of Roman opulence. Check-in at the Diamond Lounge was efficiently handled by Thomas, who upgraded me to a Palace Tower suite while sharing fascinating snippets about the property's star-studded history – from Evil Knievel's famous jump to the countless celebrity performances at The Colosseum.
My Palace Tower Premium Suite (starting at $279) proved to be a study in modern luxury with classical touches. At 1,050 square feet, the recently renovated space struck a perfect balance between Roman-inspired décor and contemporary comfort. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered sweeping views of the Strip and the Garden of the Gods pool oasis.
The marble bathroom featured a dual vanity, oversized spa tub, and separate steam shower. The bedroom's custom-made mattress, dressed in Frette linens, delivered exceptional comfort. The living room, with its elegant chaise lounge and dining area, provided ample space for both relaxation and entertaining.
Caesars' casino floor (124,181 square feet) remains one of Vegas's most iconic gaming spaces. The high-limit Palace Court, recently renovated, offers an intimate atmosphere with minimum bets starting at $100 for blackjack. The poker room, while not the Strip's largest, maintains a devoted following among serious players.
I spent considerable time in the Montecristo Cigar Bar, where the combination of fine spirits, premium cigars, and high-limit gaming creates one of Vegas's most sophisticated atmospheres. The sports book, with its massive 143-foot LED screen, delivers an immersive viewing and betting experience.
Caesars Palace's dining portfolio reads like a who's who of celebrity chefs. Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen, beyond its TV fame, serves genuinely excellent cuisine – the beef Wellington (USD$69) lived up to its reputation. Restaurant Guy Savoy, with its mirror flagship location in Paris, delivered one of the finest French dining experiences in North America.
Nobu's largest location worldwide offers an exceptional omakase experience, while Mr Chow provides Beijing cuisine with theatrical flair. The newly renovated Bacchanal Buffet redefines the Vegas buffet concept with over 150 dishes made in small batches.
The Colosseum, having hosted legends from Sinatra to Celine Dion, remains one of Vegas's premier entertainment venues. The Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis, with its seven distinct pool experiences, creates a genuine resort atmosphere in the heart of the Strip.
Qua Baths & Spa deserves special mention. The Roman-inspired facility features cascading waterfall showers, an Arctic Ice Room (the only one in the world), and arguably the finest hydrotherapy circuit in Las Vegas. My Qua Signature Holisticmassage (USD$225 for 75 minutes) ranked among the best spa experiences I've had on the Strip.
The Forum Shops, while technically a mall, create an entertaining atmosphere with their animated statues, replicated Roman streets, and luxury boutiques.
Service at Caesars Palace manages to balance efficiency with personality – no small feat in a resort of this size. The Seven Stars lounge staff exhibited particular attention to detail, while the casino hosts showed impressive knowledge of player preferences.
While rack rates can be high, Caesars Rewards members often access competitive rates and valuable comps. The property's central Strip location, entertainment options, and dining portfolio provide solid value, particularly for guests taking full advantage of the resort's amenities.
The size of the property means significant walking distances between venues. Some areas of the original Roman Tower show their age despite renovations. During peak times, the main casino floor can feel crowded and noisy.
Caesars Palace succeeds in maintaining its legendary status while continually evolving. Unlike newer properties that struggle to establish character, Caesars exudes an authentic personality born from decades as a Vegas landmark.
The resort particularly excels at offering experiences at every level – from casual gamblers to high rollers, budget diners to gourmands, casual shoppers to luxury buyers. What's particularly impressive is how it maintains its character across all these offerings.
For first-time Vegas visitors, Caesars Palace delivers the quintessential Strip experience. For returning guests, the constantly evolving dining and entertainment options provide new reasons to visit. It's best suited for travelers who appreciate both Vegas history and modern luxury, and who enjoy being in the heart of the Strip action.
